M58 smart gun

Replaces the M56 smart gun. Based on an M14 action modified to fire from the open bolt, it features a heavy ribbed barrel, chainsaw style grip, 168 round dual feed helical magazine, integrated IR laser target tracking/guided munitions system, green aiming laser, flashlight, power generation system (small generator and rack gear captures energy from waste gas pressure), and underbarrel 30mm caseless stacked munitions grenade/rocket launcher. The guided munitions system has 2 modes, line of sight simple tracking, where the IR scanning laser picks up a target and can slightly adjust a fired bullets flight path to intercept, and non-line of sight (NLOS). The gun uses a special fin guided, wirelessly linked varient of the 8x24mm caseless round. The bullet is slimmer, longer and lighter because of the fins and guidance electronics, meaning less propellant behind it and less energy on target, but is explosive tipped, and the increased hit probability makes up for less KE. In NLOS mode the UB launcher fires a rocket propelled sensor package into an area to scan for targets. The package includes micro air density sensors (motion tracker), seismic and audio sensors, and a scanning blue laser suite (like the scanning probe from aliens and the mapping drones from prometheus). It relays target information back to the guns computer, which signals the operator that targets are selected and being tracked. The operator then fires a burst, and the computer guides those projectiles to target, even around slight bends and corners as long as the sensor suite landed somewhere it can track the target (no 90 degree turns, only slight curves). The sensor rocket can also be used for mapping purposes like in Prometheus. It can be fired down a corridor or into an open area, scan the terrain and targets, and upload a map to any networked screen (like the operators helmet HUD, any other gun equipped with a motion tracker, screens in a nearby APC or dropship, etc.).
